Oregon State University intends to contract for the provision of a Vanta handheld X‑ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzer from Evident Scientific as a sole source due to required compatibility with existing equipment. The selected analyzer must be compatible with the existing GEOtec desktop XRF core scanner, which is designed specifically to accommodate Evident Vanta analyzers. The instrument must also be capable of field deployment under rugged conditions and withstand repeated use across multiple field campaigns and have authorized service centers in the United States for this instrumentation, ensuring that repairs and recalibrations meet original manufacturing standards. An entity may appeal this determination in accordance with OSU Standard 03‑010, Section 5.17 no later than the closing date indicated on the website. Appeals must be submitted to Procurement, Contracts and Materials Management at procurement@oregonstate.edu by February 2, 2026 at 3:00 PM PST.
