Universal laser

Description

Oregon State University intends to contract for the provision of a Universal Laser Systems ULTRA R5000 from Laser Marking Products, LLC as a sole source because of the uniqueness (design, capability, nature) of the goods and the contractor being the single provider of the goods. Laser must meet a range of minimum specifications critical to the university’s research, prototyping, and production goals, including a minimum work envelope of 32 inches by 24 inches by 12 inches, modular architecture that supports CO₂ lasers ranging from 30 to 150 watts and optional fiber lasers, and an Intelligent Materials Database that automatically adjusts laser settings based on material type and thickness. The system must include a camera-based registration system for precision visual alignment, a precision autofocus mechanism that functions independently of material type, and a programmable gas assist system paired with a flow-through cutting table to ensure clean, sealed-edge cuts. Compatibility with CAD-driven workflows is required, along with support for either a USB-connected computer or a touch panel interface. Additionally, the laser must be upgradeable to Class 4 for oversized material handling and support integration with air filtration systems such as BOFA Oracle iQ or UAC 4000. An entity may appeal this determination in accordance with OSU Standard 03-010, Section 5.17 no later than July 18, 2025. Appeals must be submitted to Procurement, Contracts and Materials Management at procurement@oregonstate.edu by 10:00 AM PST on July 18, 2025.
